The number of times i update.

The frequency is getting smaller.

Quite exhausted and stress out. I stayed in school practically until 6pm everyday now without getting my lesson plans done. Just simply cannot concentrate when a host of problems surface.

In fact, had one of the most horrible experience so far reliefing a sec 3T class. The boys challenged a fight with the lower sec (i believe to be sec 1) and i was trying to stop them -i stood on the doorway to stop some of them from going out but some boys tried to push their way out (by doing so, I was pushed too). Grr, until i became so fed up and i screamed at them. Bah, luckily some boys with sharp eyes caught a glimpse of the discipline master and warned the rest of his classmates. So they scurried back to the class like monkeys. Anyway, thank goodness the discipline master came in to scold them on several issues. be fierce cannot, be nice also cannot, don’t care about them also cannot, care about them and kanna unjust treatment from them.

Heard many times, from different people, one of the time I head indirectly from other schools teachers who said this “If you can survive in S_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ , you can survive anywhere”, this statement is slowly proven.

Anyway, don’t care about this, lets talk about my EPT! I have managed to PASS IT! YAY! hope i get to NIE for a break from teaching/reliefing in january. Dmn, I am very envious of those lucky ones who get to well-disciplined schools…

It has been 2 hectic weeks for me at work. Actually, though I am still having troubles trying to get discipline the students, I am starting to have fun teaching.

I am currently helping out the form teacher for a sec 2T2 (NT class) and I’m now sort of labeled as their “co-form” teacher. This sec 2T2 i had relief before and was a headache. However, I tried getting friendlier to them during CLD (erm, stands for some leadership development) and it turned out quite well. Even though there are lots of malay names to remember, I managed to recognise and call them by names now - which is supposingly a good start. Problem with this class is, some boys sometimes do some verbal harassment like “cher, he say he wants to press your ___”. lol, i just stare at them and firmly tell them don’t be rude. Well, the girls are very nice and friendly with me, in fact I try look for them everyday to talk to them haha.

I conducted one of the practicals for all the graduating. Surprisingly, I can get very fast in explaining with english now. Probably due to the number of times i reminded all students. Also, I am now already taking some of the sec 4 express class for revision alone. Not very bad, but then I think i tend to neglect people because I explain in detail 1-1 for every question raised. And well, one of the girls in the sec 4 actually came to request to be in my class (after the class split she is still with her original teacher). I told her that im not in a good position to let my partner teacher (whom i really respect her for her deep knowledge in the subject) know about it. And out of curiousity, I asked her the reason why. Because I really think some students just like new teachers for a change, they have no idea an untrained teacher like me can be uncertain at times. Well, she told me that she like my detail explanations, lol. ok, i am flattered okay! She said that comparatively, but no offence >.< , I show more attention and patient while explaining how to approach and do a question.

well, i'm off from the school until next friday because i am attending a course on monday and tuesday. SAD! The teacher's preparatory course burn my national day celebration! >.< I CAN’T HAVE FUN WITH MY STUDENTS ON THAT DAY T_T. And, seemingly, I’m going to miss out alot of fun cause there are bazaars and games . sobsob maybe I should wear a red-white attire on next friday to compensate for my loss.

2nd day of work i had to work from 8am to 4pm, standing. cause my timetable is pack on tuesday, somemore got a printing error, one of the 2 periods of break i initially thought i have for the day is gone. that means the class is actually abit like 2 periods duration, but it is only printed on one period kind of thing. the lower sec syllabus is worrisome - i practically cannot remember what was taught to me - plus, the sec 2NT and sec 2NA class i have is boisterous. I just observed the sec 2NA class teacher teaching, everyone is talking. Even when another male teacher was aiding by shouting, the class still won’t keep quiet. 1hr and they only thing they “did” was to copy the answers for the worksheet. haha, good luck to me man.

Anyway, today saw my sec 5NA class and one of the sec 4 express. I’m really surprised at their dilligence for the sec 5NA. They are more hardworking compared to the sec 4 express and surprisingly quieter and on task. Anyway not to say I don’t like the sec4 express, probably the reason why i think 5NA is better because they asked those questions in the 10yrs series that i can answer lol. For the express classes they are like doing paper by paper, so suddenly i have to recall like 17 physics topics when my level of understanding is up till chpt 6. but i managed to pull it through lah, very funny i guess mostly correct wor. haha scrape through sia..

anyway i kind of enjoyed today’s plan, cause i seriously like the revision more, cause revision is like they can do their discussion happily and i can answer questions as if i am tutoring. but a lot background studying required, and probably i have to explain many times because i got like 3 graduating classes to coach. I’m happy they are doing practical tomorrow, something i seems to did for O lvl or A lvl, remember the jockey thing? a circuit with a meter rule (which has a nichrome wire on it) and then u use a jockey (crocodile clip lookalike thing) to touch the nichrome wire on like different length. This is ohm’s law and resisitvity thing. haha, memories flowing back. hopefully i can pull it through.

did i mention yet that i borrowed a laptop which i have no access to? lol, apparently the sch locks every computer and then i have to borrow a user and pass from a teacher tommorrow before i can start use it. i will take pic of it tmr so i can show u, its v small, panasonic toughbook. its definitely less than 12.1″, weighing a mere “i-dunno-how-much” kg (SI unit for mass) and then screen is slightly bigger than A5 paper. oh btw, im getting a 12,1″ acer brand notebook, and this notebook im getting is one of the lightest around le, yet the one in my staff room is smaller. haha, but i will still buy my laptop for my usage at my boyfriend’s hse, i got lesson plannings to do on weekends man.. tata, i gotta go work out solution for my 4A3 class now for the lesson on thursday. seeya all i’m a happy teacher today.

i’m back from my first day of work. As expected, i was traumatised by the students i see. Not that exactly because of their discipline problems, which already is headache enough. I observed teachers calling out for them to pay attention yet they are happily chatting away. Also, I will always remember that on my first day of work, I lost my pencil case. Apparently it was one of the students from the sec 2 normal tech class who took it while i was helping the partner teacher to get some markers. Oh well, it was a great mistake to put my stuffs behind the classroom (the usual quiet observation area) unattended. When I came back to the class, I took a peek and saw my brown pencil case missing from its placing.

Later on after confirming that the pencil case is gone, I informed the NIE teacher that was going to share the class with me. I think she managed to handle the situation eventually, although alot effort trying to get the culprit without knowing who did it. I did a lot of shouting and yelling and even try to persuade them to return by mentioning I will let the matter rest if i manage to recover the lost items. Obviously they don’t want to be labelled as a thief or be caught from “stealing” others property. These students won’t listen!

Anyway, continuing, my belongings inside the pencil case was distributed among a few malay students. See, I’m not trying to be racist ok, it’s a fact that the malay students took it. These students just won’t listen. I spotted one of the girls holding to my blue and pink ballpoint pen. I demanded for it to be returned to me, actually I could as well just take the 2 pens that is mine, but I want to try to get the rest of my belongings back as well, including a calculator that I am very concern on. The student defended that the pens belong to her. Luckily I had placed a blue tape across on my blue pen last time, so I made no mistakes getting them back. To my surprised, she said she don’t have the whole pencil case with her. Then, after pointing fingers, a malay boy took out all the other stationaries. Now left the pencil case and the calculator unrecovered. Wah seh, really freaking us out loh, they got the guts to take and share the stuffs but don’t have the guts to return. Eventually, we resorted to “check bag”. Well, shortly after i checked the first student, my partner discovered the remaining of my items. One of the malay girls pissed me off when she threw the calculator on the table (as if it will bounce). Then i scolded her, “Calculator is not for you to throw like that. It will spoil ok..!”. Alright sound very self-centered, but i don’t care!

Can you imagine if i buy a new laptop to show them powerpoint slides? I tell you they will just meddle with it and there goes my laptop! Cause that happened to the NIE teacher’s sch laptop. One boy just go touch touch, click click. I will definitely not share any nice animated powerpoints with those NT class because they got the tendency to take things away from you. how? I am totally disappointed in the super attitude behaviour of the students.

The 4NA class is better, but still won’t be on task or even shut up when they are supposed to. I have yet to see the 2 express classes and a sec 5 NA class, and a sec 2 NA class.

Also, back in staff room, I saw another NIE teacher crying. It looks like she got bullied by students from other class. Don’t know what happened, but this shows how bad the discipline is.

Anyway, the discipline problem here is much worse than my old school. I should have appealed to my old school that time. dmnit.
Anyway my timetable is horrible for tuesday. how to handle? Anyway I am teaching a total of 6 classes. 1 [sec 2 Normal academic], which i will be expected to be in charged of the whole class in less than a week. 1 [sec 2 NT], introduced earlier on, class will be splitted between the nie teacher and I. 1 [sec 4NA], 1 [sec 5NA], 2 [sec 4 express] which will be splitted with a teacher to do revision with. Oh, i will relief take the sec 4NA class on thurs because the teacher will be away. ahhh! horrible.. no laptop to do my lesson plans. I just finished studying 6 chapters of the O lvl chapters for Physics.

One more thing, i was told if i have something on to do, probably lesson plans, earliest I can managed to leave for home is 5pm. Since today I only got own revisions to do, I actually sneaked home at 3pm. I dunno, heard from the NIE teacher that during her contract, she only have to stay for 6mths before entering NIE. I hope i get to go NIE within 6 months..
